May 1951: Established and named as Design Division of Northeast Electrical Administration Bureau in Harbin;

November 1952: Moved to Shenyang;

April 1953: Renamed as Forth Design Sub-Bureau of Design Bureau of The Ministry of First Machinery Industry after merging another design division;

May 1956: Renamed as Design Institute of The Ministry of Motor Industry;

Early 1958: Renamed as The Eighth Design Institute of the Ministry of First Machinery Industry after The Ministry of Motor Industry and Ministry of Second Machinery Industry being merged into the the Ministry of First Machinery Industry;

May 1958: The Eighth Design Institute of the Ministry of First Machinery Industry was divided into three design institutes: Beijing Design Institute of The Eighth Design Institute of the Ministry of First Machinery Industry; Xi’an Design Institute of The Eighth Design Institute of the Ministry of First Machinery Industry; and Shenyang Design Institute of The Eighth Design Institute of the Ministry of First Machinery Industry;

1965: Shenyang Design Institute was merged into Xi’an Design Institute of The Eighth Design Institute of the Ministry of First Machinery Industry;

September 1972: Renamed as Xi’an Design Institute of The Ministry of First Machinery Industry;

January 1978: Renamed as The Seventh Design Institute of The Ministry of First Machinery Industry;

June 1981: Renamed as The Seventh Design and Research Institute of The Ministry of First Machinery Industry (abbr as SDRI);

May1982: Renamed as The Seventh Design and Research Institute of The Ministry of Machinery Industry (abbr as SDRI);

October 2000: Became a science and technological enterprise directly controlled by the central government and renamed as China National Machine-Building Engineering and Consulting Corporation (abbr as CNME) after merging The Second Surveying & Research Institute, Shenzhen Design and Research Institute and The Eighth Design and Research Institute of The Ministry of Machinery Industry; 

July 2004: Renamed as China New Era International Engineering Corporation (abbr as CNIEC) after being merged into China New Era Group by SASAC ;

May 2010: China New Era International Engineering Corporation (abbr as CNIEC) was merged into China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (abbr as CECEP) by SASAC ;

November 2017: Renamed as China Qiyuan Engineering Corporation (abbr as CQEC) as one main subsidiary of CECEP.
