On January 5th, 2023, the handover ceremony of China-aid Foreign Service Academy of Sierra Leone was successfully held in Freetown, capital of Sierra Leone, for which CQEC undertook the engineering design and project management works.
Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone, Mr. David Francis, Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone, Mr. Wang Qing, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Sierra Leone, and other senior officials from both countries attended the ceremony and expressed their praise to the quality of the project.
The project is located in Tower Hill Road, Freetown, Sierra Leone with total coverage of 4577.9m2, 19.25m in height, 4 floors above ground and 1 floor of basement including the main building and auxiliary facilities. The foreign service academy has been designed and equipped with advanced teaching facilities, conference hall, advance computer classrooms, audio classrooms and standby diesel power generator etc.
The project construction was started in December 2020 as an important China-aid project set by the two governments. In the past two years, CQEC’s on-site management team overcame lots of challenges caused by COVID-19 pandemic and other difficulties, strictly performed the project management and construction supervision duties in comply with the rules of China-aid projects. Which in turn has gained us high comments from both Sierra Leone and China sides.
As a professional training and educational facility of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone, the China-aid Foreign Service Academy will help Sierra Leone and even the Western African countries to cultivate professional diplomats, and will work as a model project to demonstrate the friendship between China and Sierra Leone.
The handing over of the project shows the strong capability of overseas project management of CQEC. We will take persistent efforts on engineering design and project management works of China-Aid projects to devote the intelligence, experience and strength of a Chinese enterprise for the building up of a community with a shared future for mankind!
