Handover Ceremony of China-aided Extension Project of IPRC Musanze Held in Rwanda

On November 24, 2021, the handover ceremony of the China-aided Extension Project of IPRC Musanze was held in the Multi-functional Hall of the new campus of the college. Hundreds of senior officials and representatives from both China and Rwanda witnessed the ceremony including Mr. Rao Hongwei, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, Mrs. Claudette Irere, Minister of State of The Ministry of Education of Rwanda, Governor of Northern Province and Mayer of Musanze District, Mr. James Gashumba, Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic, and Mr. Emile Abayisenga, Principal of IPRC Musanze also Speaker of Musanze District Council. Representatives of the Project Management Company, China Qiyuan Engineering Corporation (abbr. as CQEC), and Project General Contractor, Chongqing International Construction Corporation (abbr. As CICO), teachers and students of the college as well as local media participated in the event, too.

The Vice Chancellor made opening remarks, and the Principal introduced the project to the guests.

The Chinese Ambassador said that the project was launched by the Chinese President and Rwandan President on China-Africa Cooperation Forum. As one of the most important China-aid projects in Rwanda, it is a landmark of China-Rwanda cooperation in education and will incubate more local vocational talents.

The project is part of the China-Africa brotherhood, the Rwandan Minister of State said in her address. She expressed gratitude to the Chinese Government on behalf of the Rwandan Government for the grant of the new campus and equipment, and she believes that the project would make graduates more competitive in local and international markets.

The Chinese Ambassador handed over the model key of the project to the Rwandan Minister of State after signing and exchanging of the handover certificates.

Mainstream media of China and Rwanda including Rwanda Broadcasting Agency, IGIHE, The New Times, and Xinhua News Agency reported the whole event.

The project provides Administration Office Building, Comprehensive Teaching Building, Muti-functional Hall, students' dormitories, training workshops, outdoor training shed, and auxiliary functional rooms including duty room and power house; auxiliary facilities including square, road and outdoor parking lots in the campus; training equipment and office furniture as well; Total land area of the new campus is about 41,000 m2 and total floor area is 7,600 m2.

The project started on June 01, 2019, completed on August 31, 2021, passed the final acceptance inspection by the Ministry of Commerce of China on October 05, 2021, and signed technical acceptance agreements on November 12, 2021 which was also the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Rwanda diplomatic relations.

It is a landmark of China-aid project in Rwanda. After the completion and handover of new campus, IPRC Musanze has become the most famous and largest IPRC in Rwanda, which will significantly promote technical vocational education and accelerate economic development of Rwanda. CQEC presents this project to the 100th anniversary of Communist Party of China and 50th anniversary of China-Rwanda diplomatic relations, and will continue to undertake more missions and duties as a Chinese state-owned company, contribute to more China-aid projects, root deeply in international market so as to help building the shared future for mankind in the world.
